Circle Concrete Winners at Texas State University New Ventures Competition
Circle Concrete has been recognized as one of the top innovators at the 2021 Texas State University New Ventures competition. This accolade highlights the groundbreaking work we’re doing with our revolutionary concrete product, Plient, in a competitive landscape.
The competition required each participating team to have a scalable business concept and at least one team member associated with Texas State University as a current student, faculty, staff, or alumni. That’s us.
What This Means for Circle Concrete
As a startup, this award carries significant weight for us, providing:
- $20,000 in Non-Dilutive Proof of Concept Funding: This financial boost sped up the commercialization of Plient.
- Free Workspace at STAR One: Texas State’s technology incubator offers a conducive environment for tech development.
- Mentorship: The guidance from seasoned entrepreneurs-in-residence will refine our business strategies.
More on Plient: Not Just Another Concrete
Plient isn’t your typical concrete. It is a special concrete mixture formulated with both scrap steel and recycled pavement aggregate. What sets it apart is not just its cost-effectiveness, but its performance for certain applications.
Plient also reduces the greenhouse gases in concrete, can be more affordable and save time on labor (replacing steel rebar) and increase throughput for manufacturing concrete products.
A Special Mention to New Ventures
This competition is a joint initiative by several Texas State organizations, aiming to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. Their efforts enable startups like ours to break new ground and take strides towards a more sustainable future.
Thank you, Texas State New Ventures, for this incredible opportunity and acknowledgment.
